Composite materials represent an important class of engineering materials. The properties of their components, reinforcing fibers, matrices, laminates and their interaction at their interfaces play an important role in their mechanical performance. Our team has worked with polymer thermoset and thermoplastic polymers reinforced with high strength UHMWPE fibers and tapes, carbon and aramid fibers and laminate composites of UHMWPE and other materials such as aluminum and wood for aerospace, medical and sporting applications.
